2018 Nationals to be held at Kogarah Bay
The AHCA have confirmed a change of venue for the 2018 Australian Hansa Class Championships.
The regatta will be held at Kogarah Bay over Easter - Friday 30th March to Monday 2nd April 2018.
Previously, we had advised that the Nationals would be held at Penrith, however a clause in the event application which allowed the venue to cancel the event in case of weed, blue green algae etc necessitated a change of venue.
AHCA President, Russell Phillips said "We are grateful to Penrith for offering to host our Nationals in 2018. However, the clause that allows the event to be cancelled by the regatta centre with 24 hours notice in the event of water issues was not something we could agree to. It would be unthinkable to have sailors from around the country travel to attend the event, to then potentially have it cancelled with a day's notice".
"Kogarah Bay have then stepped in to run our Nationals, and we look forward to working with their team over the next 12 months".
The Kogarah Bay Sailing Club was established over 50 years ago, catering for enthusiasts of all ages. The Club hosts regular racing for their fleet of RL24's, Tasars & Hartleys, plus an Open class each week. They run a year-round Sailability program from their Club, which is adjacent to Kogarah Bay and the George's River which run off Botany Bay in Sydney's south.
More details about the event will be published here as they become available.
