WA State Championships held in Perth

Seven Hansa boats -  3 libertys & 4 303 doubles - entered the 2017 WA Hansa Class Championships at Royal Perth Yacht Club.
The event was held as part of the annual Argonaut Mini Series and was very busy with about 60 dinghys entered across the divisions.
Reigning Hansa 303 World Champion Chris Symonds came from Tasmania & sailed in the 303 doubles division with his son who lives in Perth. The weather was kind across the weekend - about 30 degrees & south easterly breezes about 10 knots.

Racing was completed with 3 races before lunch on both the Saturday & Sunday mornings. Liberty racing was very close, with Tracy Odiam crowned the overall winner. All 303 races were won by Chris & Michael Symonds but unfortunately a breach of rules meant DSQ for the last 3 races allowing Alistair Sinclair & Neil Colwell to place 1st overall
All of the Perth 303 sailors were taking part for the 2nd time and you could see the improvement in all of them as the regatta continued. Nicholas Kirkman missed a race due to broken equipment but some quick fixing saw him back on the course with his big smile.
Full results from the regatta are available here.
WA will be the host of the 2018 Australian Hansa Class Championships. More details will be released shortly.
